In addition to the Minister of Justice, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, the Minister for Home Affairs and the Executive Director of EUROPOL will also be present at the presentation of SOCTA 2021 - EU Serious and Organised Crime Threat Assessment.

As a strategic document, the SOCTA report provides a detailed analysis on serious and organised crime and the threat it poses to the European Union, providing useful and up-to-date information to policy-makers, to the judicial and police authorities and to the public in general.

The SOCTA report identifies and assesses threats to the EU and analyses existing vulnerabilities on a number of crime areas, as well as the opportunities that criminals create in order to commit them. It serves as a basis and guidance for the definition of the next cycle of the European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats (EMPACT), for the three-year period 2022-2025, in which political priorities, strategic objectives and operational action plans are established.
