Under the slogan "New horizons for EJTN members regarding judicial training", the event will also be attended by experts and practitioners from the Member States of the European Union and aims to promote debate on two major themes: the crisis caused by COVID-19 and the future, as well as the opening of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) to training for judicial officers.

The challenges posed by the pandemic to the training of magistrates, the questions it has raised regarding the future, as well as the solutions found and the opportunities that have emerged, notably through the use of digital technologies, will be addressed in detail.

The issue of integrating the training of judicial officers and their institutions into the European Judicial Training Network will also be examined.

The conference will also constitute an important milestone for the implementation of the Strategic Plan 2021-2027 of the European Judicial Training Network, namely by reflecting on the development of new methodologies to enhance the quality of training and the extension of training activities to areas not strictly legal, including foreign languages and new technologies.

The topic of judicial training was highlighted during the recent Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which ended on 30 June, during which the Council Conclusions on "Boosting training of justice professionals" were approved and a conference on the European Strategy for Judicial Training 2021-2024 was organised jointly with the Commission.
