Combating hate crime and hate speech
The Minister of Justice participates in the Conference organised by the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Francisca Van Dunem participates tomorrow, 28 October, at the conference “Stamping out hate crime and hate speech – Effective responses to hate crimes and hate speech online, and protection of victims”, organised by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Slovenia, together with the European Commission, via videoconference.
The conference will address the topics on combating hate speech online and on fostering the exchange of good practices among Member States on the support and protection of victims of hate crimes. It will also update the Commission’s initiative to include hate speech and hate crime as a European crime, as provided for in Article 83(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
Following the work carried out in the EU High Level Group on combating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance, the ODIHR's project on “Enhancing Stakeholder Awareness and Resources for Hate Crime Victim Support (EStAR)”, of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, as well as different civil society activities that provide support to victims of hate crimes will be presented.
The conference will gather representatives from the European and international organisations, national authorities, civil society organisations, experts and representatives of IT companies.
